National Talent Search Examination Scholarships (NTSE)

On the basis of the National Talent Search Examination, 1000 scholarships will be awarded

The amount of scholarship will be as under:

a) Scholarship of Rs 500/- per month for Class XI to XII

b) Scholarship of Rs 2000/- per month for Undergraduates and Post-graduates

c) Amount of Scholarship for Ph.D be fixed in accordance with the UGC norms

2) Reservation

15% scholarships will be reserved for students belonging to the SC category, 7.5% scholarships for students belonging to the ST category and 3% for Physically Challenged group of students

3. Selection

There will be two stage selection process for award of scholarship

Stage- I, selection will be done by States/UTs through a written examination

Students, who qualify Stage-I, will be eligible to appear for Stage-II examination, conducted by NCERT

4. Eligibility

All students of Class X studying in recognized schools are eligible to appear for the Stage-I examination, conducted by the States/UTs, in which the schools are located

There will be no domicile restriction

The States/UTs will also conduct the selection test for National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme along with the Stage-I written examination for NTS.

 

NTSE 2015 Exam Pattern and Syllabus for Class X

NTSE consist of two tests

Mental Ability test (MAT)

Scholastic Aptitude test (SAT)

Both the sections consist of multiple choice questions and each question has four alternatives. From these four alternatives you need to select one correct answer. Each correct answer will get you one mark.

MAT consists of 50 questions which are for one mark each and lasts for 45 minutes. SAT further has two sections; consisting of a Languages test and a combined section for Science, Mathematics and Social Science. The Language Section has 50 questions of one mark each which lasts for 45 minutes and the Science, Mathematics and Social Science section consists of 100 questions of one mark each which are to be completed within 90 minutes.

Both the sections are time bound

NTSE Mental Ability Test (MAT) Syllabus

This section of the test is given to the reasoning, ability to think, ability to judge, evaluate or discriminate, ability to visualize in the space, spatial orientation, etc. A selection of questions, for example - analogies, classification, series, pattern perception, hidden figures, coding decoding, block assembly, problem solving, etc. are used for this purpose.

NTSE Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Syllabus (Language Test)

Language Test has been designed such that it assesses your reading comprehension, logical sequencing; interpretative, evaluative, predictive and creative components of language. The candidate has an option of appearing for the Language Test either in English or in Hindi.

NTSE Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Syllabus (Maths, Science & Social Science)

This section of SAT has been constructed such that one can judge how much of text-book knowledge the student has gained. As India doesn't have one single unified board system thus NCERT has not prescribed any particular syllabus for this State Level Examination or for National Level Examination.

You should also be prepared to answer questions that are asked at the National Level (Stage-II) to be standard of Classes IX and X level.


Selection: There will be two-stage selection process for award of scholarship.

Stage-I: Selection will be done by Sates/Uts through a written examination. Students who qualify

stage –I  will be eligible for Stage-II examination conducted by NCERT.

The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is an important examination for class X students only, as it gives a platform to students to compete at national level and avail scholarships for their further education.
